Paul's Gift: A Dedication to Education
It's one thing to get an education, but it's another to use that education to help others. For Paul Rensted, that's what makes Augsburg University unique.
"Augsburg was the place where I learned to integrate the work I would do professionally with the idea of service," he says.
Paul, who graduated in 1987, has watched as Augsburg has grown, adding to the quality and depth of programs.
"I think the one thing you can't underestimate is the impact of, or value of, an education. If you can play a role in helping someone else get an education, you can change that person's life," he says.
As the human resources director for the National PTA, Paul has dedicated his life to making education better for all students. He hopes to do the same for future Augsburg students by including a gift to the school in his will.
"By making a gift, I hope to be able to help others who wouldn't be able to otherwise attend," he notes, adding that his time at Augsburg wouldn't have been possible without similar support.
Planning his gift during Augsburg's sesquicentennial gave Paul a chance to contemplate the school's next 150 years.
"Looking to the future, I want to invest in Augsburg as a place which integrates high quality education and service to the broader community," he says.
